History

The domain name MMXXII.com was first registered by me at Dotster more than 14 years ago. It was once quantified in value as being little more than a D+ grade, unlike other more or less ambiguous domain names, which happen to get rated A+.

So, this blog is old (but so am I).

State

The WordPress engine that powers this site is version 6 something. No plugins are active. (Q: Where does Google mention this site when there’s a search for “mmxxii“? A: A few months ago it was on page #3, then #6, and now you’ll find mmxxii.se on page two and this site is no longer mentioned. Boo Google.)

I’ve tried out each of the themes among the default releases, going from TwentyTen on up to TwentyTwentyTwo, to see which one serves this site’s best purpose.

What you are seeing now is the TwentyTwentyOne theme. The newest default block theme is being closely looked at eventually.

This site is hosted by HostGator on a trial basis for now, because if you pay for 3 years, it’s cheap.

Now it is time to focus on workflow. The secret is to spend hours & hours, reading & writing code.

Online presence is a form of immortality; none of this will ever go away, or at least will be here until the end-of-time as understood.

My intention is to develop this website into something interesting, at least worth the value of your time. Stay tuned to see how it improves over the following days.

Here are the next steps (starting soon):

  1. Fix the footer. Replace the calendar.
  2. Create a system to curate image files and save database records.
  3. Write a parser.php app to read traffic log files.
  4. Print business cards with MMXXII in Cochin font (done!)
  5. Contact potential online/offline affiliates; what’s wanted? (Nope; a blog is no way to make money.)
  6. Walk/bike around handing out business cards, talk to decision makers. Encourage them to email gary@mmxxii.com (about what? who’s got time to chat?)
  7. Put up a kiosk at Bay Area markets to sell MMXXII tchotchkes. (fugget about it)
  8. Kick shopcampbell.com, shoplosgatos.com and shopwillowglen.com into gear to help with branding. (something to shake a stick at)
  9. Why is my old iPad choking on gamultable.com? (because Apple has better things to do for itself)

This was a brand new website in 2022, and a work in progress. You can believe that I almost posting a new image everyday for all of 2022. Now it’s more than a review of that year.
